For anyone who lives in Manchester, or plans to visit, there is a great pop culture scene to be involved with. You have the Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man stores within walking distance of each other. Further up the road in the Northern Quarter, there’s Fanboy 3, which caters to fans of board games and RPGs. But if you’re looking for a place to geek out and have a drink, the best place to go is the Fab Café.

Found on Portland Street, the Fab Café is a pop culture themed bar that has been around for years. The venue is set in a basement and is hidden behind silver double doors. Walk down the steps and you’ll see a Xenomorph and full-sized Dalek statue in the corner. There’s even a replica of the Tardis that is bound to impress Doctor Who fans. Take a moment to appreciate the pillars and tables that are decorated with old Marvel comic strips.

There are classic video games to play, from old school pinball machines, to one on one fighters. You’ll be able to relive your childhood memories of playing N64 games like Goldeneye: 007 and Wrestlemania 2000. The Fab Café also has an impressive number of board games to play as well.

Regular quiz nights are held, ranging from Game of Thrones to Buffy The Vampire Slayer, so you’ll be able to put your geeky knowledge to the test.

While you’re relaxing, you can order from the £3.50 milkshake menu that has drinks like the Minty Python and I Am Froot! The former is made up of aero mint and choc sauce, while the latter contains dairy milk, strawberry and raspberry sauce. If you fancy a pint, then the beers are reasonably priced and during Happy Hour they can be bought for £2.60.
