In the past decade, the wrestling industry has changed for the better. Brands like NXT have provided a platform for indie stars to shine in front of worldwide audiences. The likes of Pete Dunne, Ricochet, Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream have flourished on the black and gold brand. WWE decided to take it a step further by introducing NXT UK. As a wrestling fan, I’ve enjoyed watching WWE for a long time, even during it’s more frustrating periods. In recent years, the company has been able to listen to their audience more by bringing in independent wrestlers from all over the world, and the independent scene in England has never been hotter. At the start of 2017, WWE introduced the UK Championship and it’s opened up the door for many British wrestlers to get the attention they deserve. British strong style is alive and well and here’s why you should be paying attention to the British indie scene.
