2018 is looking to be a busy year for digital marketing, with brands searching for new ways to reach their customers and drive engagement. 2018 is also set to be a great year for superheroes and a film I’m looking forward to seeing is Avengers: Infinity War. Before I let my inner fanboy take over, I’m sure you’re wondering how The Avengers franchise and digital marketing have anything in common.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been built on a mixture of tongue-in-cheek references and world changing stakes. This trend continues with Thor: Ragnarok, which sees the God of Thunder take on the Goddess of Death for the future of Asgard. Along the way, Thor is joined by his self-serving brother Loki, a cynical Valkyrie and a smash-happy Hulk. This turns the film into a surreal, intergalactic road trip that makes Thor: Ragnarok one of Marvel’s best movies in years. Here is a spoiler free review.
For years, Loki has been an enemy of the Avengers, Thor and anyone who gets in his way. As a trickster god, you can never be quite sure of his motives and it’s produced some entertaining stories. He’s caused so much destruction that you wonder if he can ever be forgiven. The theme of redemption is explored in Loki: Agent Of Asgard: Trust Me, written by Al Ewing and drawn by Lee Garbett. A younger, reformed Loki is carrying out heroic quests for Freya in exchange for his past being wiped clean. But that doesn’t mean Loki can’t play a trick or two.
It’s Thorsday and with Thor: Ragnarok being released soon, The Comic Vault is featuring content centred around the God of Thunder. Many people are familiar with the hero of the film, but not everyone knows about the villain. Hela, Goddess of the Asgardian Underworld, is a force to be reckoned with and she’s threatened Asgard and Earth on many occasions.
When I started The Comic Vault last year, I did it with the mentality of wanting to write about something that made me happy. The more people responded to it, the more I started to set a goal for myself. Before the end of 2017 I told myself I wanted to reach 10,000 page views and 500 followers. Today, I can say I’ve smashed those targets, reaching over 10,000 and hitting 500 followers. To thank everyone, I wanted to give insight into another topic I’m passionate about.
With this edition of The Pop Culture Playlist, I’m putting Thor in the spotlight. The Thunder God has long been established as one of Marvel’s flagship characters and powerhouses. With limitless strength and the power to wield Mjolnir, he’s a worthy character to create a playlist for. Let’s get ready to Ragnarok and roll.
