Thor is one of the most recognisable Marvel characters, but the Asgardian pantheon contains some of the most diverse characters in the Marvel Universe. Balder, the God of Light, is an Asgardian who deserves more mainstream attention. One of Asgard’s most powerful warriors, Balder has helped Thor deal with a variety of threats against their home and his backstory is worth exploring in greater detail. Continue reading “Why Is Balder One Of The Most Relatable Asgardians?”
Historically, the representation of Native Americans has been presented in a stereotypical way. Danielle Moonstar is one of the most prominent Indigenous superheroes. As a member of the X-Men and New Mutants, Dani has been at the forefront of comics for several years. From her appearance, it’s tempting to assume that she falls into the stereotyping category. The pigtails and turquoise belt are indications of her Cheyenne heritage. However, Dani breaks all the traditional tropes that are associated with her culture and I’m going to tell you why. Saving the world is thirsty work, especially when you’re doing it on a regular basis. There are plenty of superheroes who like drinking and the Pop Culture Pub Crawl combines comics and alcohol together. This edition features Thor, a character whose strength is matched by his ability to consume a lot of booze. The God of Thunder’s drinking sessions are legendary, so here’s what I think he’d have when he’s out on the town.
Thor has earned a reputation for being one of the most powerful superheroes because of his godly might and hammer. Mjolnir is an essential part of the character, increasing Thor’s strength and enabling him to channel his abilities. Even without the hammer, Thor is formidable, yet the history behind Mjolnir is interesting. The Comic Vault is looking into the abilities of the Asgardian weapon. Continue reading “Hammer Time: The History And Magic Behind Mjolnir”
When I started The Comic Vault last year, I did it with the mentality of wanting to write about something that made me happy. The more people responded to it, the more I started to set a goal for myself. Before the end of 2017 I told myself I wanted to reach 10,000 page views and 500 followers. Today, I can say I’ve smashed those targets, reaching over 10,000 and hitting 500 followers. To thank everyone, I wanted to give insight into another topic I’m passionate about.
The ceiling rumbles, weary with the weight of desperate men. Their hatred is powerful, focused with such ferocity I wonder if it alone will be enough to tear through the roof of the bunker. They serve a Meshugener’s dream. This war has taught me it’s become harder to separate the mad from the wise. I should be terrified, but how much death can be faced before even the scent of burnt carcasses leaves behind nothing but jadedness? All the terror I’ve left to spare is for my people, huddling in the bunker, relying on me to see them through until the morning. But we will find freedom, we’ll never surrender to the likes of men who would turn us into animals.
With this edition of The Pop Culture Playlist, I’m putting Thor in the spotlight. The Thunder God has long been established as one of Marvel’s flagship characters and powerhouses. With limitless strength and the power to wield Mjolnir, he’s a worthy character to create a playlist for. Let’s get ready to Ragnarok and roll.
