The X-Men are among the most iconic comic characters, serving as an allegory for acceptance. The team would never have been founded without Professor X. Charles Xavier is the core of the X-Men, advocating peace and understanding. Professor X’s role as a teacher, therapist and psychologist is crucial because he’s helped so many people come to terms with who they are. The character is a powerful symbol for the benefits of therapy and The Comic Vault is investigating the reasons why.

Having been dead for years, Jean was resurrected in the pages of X-Men: Red, a series that sees her grappling with a changed world for mutants. Still believing in Professor X’s dream, she puts together a team of her own X-Men to try and make the world a better place for mutants and humans. I recently met the artist of the series, Mahmud Asrar in Manchester at a comic signing in Travelling Man and I couldn’t resist getting his thoughts on what it’s like to draw such an important character. As someone who’s lived for over a century, it’s only natural that Wolverine has been in love with many women. From Jean Grey, to Silver Fox, there have been many who’ve caught his interest. A common trait that binds these women is that they die tragically for being close to him. Some have survived, but their relationship with Logan has never been the same after. But out of all of them, who can be considered Wolverine’s true love? Here I examine some of the women he’s loved and lost and give my opinion on who holds that place in his heart.
