Dole’s Powering The Hero Within Campaign Combines Avengers And Healthy Food Together

Two of the most enjoyable things in life for me are comics and food, so when I see anything that combines both, my interest is going to be piqued. This was the case with food organisation Dole, who recently unveiled their Powering The Hero Within campaign to tie into the release of Avengers: Infinity War. The company have earned a reputation for promoting healthy eating and the new campaign follows in a similar mentality. In pop culture, there are all kinds of phenomenons and movements, with steampunk being one that’s really taken off over the last few years. Victorian aesthetics are mixed with modern technology to create quirky designs. Steampunk has inspired a multitude of subgenres, so any time I come across steampunk inspired creations, I’m interested in getting involved. Why The Mandarin Is Iron Man’s Greatest Enemy

Every superhero needs an archenemy to fight against and form the conflict of memorable stories. Batman has The Joker, Captain America has the Red Skull and Iron Man has The Mandarin. Created by Stan Lee and artist Don Heck, The Mandarin is Tony Stark’s greatest foe. Through a mixture of science and alien technology, Mandarin has aimed to conquer everything in his path. In many ways, he’s a dark reflection of Iron Man in that he utilises technology to achieve his goals for a malevolent purpose. The character is known for using alien rings that grant him a variety of abilities and The Comic Vault is looking into Mandarin’s history to see what makes him such a memorable villain.

Infamous Iron Man: Volume 1 Review: Can Doctor Doom Be A Hero?

Over the past few years, a recent comic trend has been to replace established characters with new versions. There’s been a female Thor, a female Hawkeye and even an Asian version of The Hulk. A new character taking on an established identity doesn’t always work, but when it’s done right it can offer an intriguing story. This is the case with Brian Michael Bendis’ Infamous Iron Man series, with Doctor Doom taking on the role of Iron Man. Spinning out from the events of Civil War II, Tony Stark is in a coma and Victor Von Doom is out to show the world he can protect it.

The Pop Culture Playlist: Iron Man

Homeofcomics has put a request in for The Pop Culture Playlist, and I’m happy to oblige by putting together music for Iron Man. Tony Stark is a genius, who’s done a lot to help the world with his inventions. He’s also egotistical, has messed up spectacularly and used to be an alcoholic. There’s plenty of material to cover in the epic story of Iron Man.
