Superheroes save the day regularly and some choose to relax by getting a drink to celebrate their good fortune. The Pop Culture Pub Crawl looks into a character’s favourite tipple to see what happens when they take a night off. With his charisma and zest for life, Gambit is someone who’d enjoy having a few beverages. Remy Lebeau is a man of the people and his quest for alcohol would make him the soul of the party. All-New X-Factor: Change Of Decay Review: A Heartfelt Graphic Novel About Owning Your Place
Compared to big teams like The Avengers and X-Men, X-Factor has always been considered small time. In the past, the group has acted as a mutant detective agency, being led by characters like Multiple Man and Havok. In Peter David’s All-New X-Factor: Change Of Decay, the team has taken on a corporate identity. Polaris leads the roster of Quicksilver, Gambit, Cypher, Warlock and Danger on a mission to rescue a girl from her mutant-hating father. The situation gets a lot more complicated in a graphic novel that’s filled with awesome character interactions. Comic Kitchen: Gambit
Comic Kitchen is a series that combines food and superheroes together to create a menu based around a specific character. New Orleans is known for its eclectic cuisine and no hero represents The Big Easy’s reputation quite like Gambit. The Ragin’ Cajun is as free-spirited as they come, which means the kind of food he’d eat would have a plethora of different flavours. I’ve come up with a New Orleans inspired menu that brings the different cultures of NOLA together, while also showcasing Gambit’s love for life.
Dissecting The Complexity Of Gambit And Rogue’s Relationship To See What Makes Them A Relatable Couple
Valentine’s Day is marked as a special day for couples and it got me thinking about the variety of comic couples that I’ve grown up reading about over the years. One of the most realistic has to be the relationship between Gambit and Rogue because of the journey they’ve been on together. The two X-Men have the perfect definition of an on-again, off-again relationship, yet they’ve both grown and matured as characters. Marvel recently brought out a mini-series featuring the pair and it inspired me to look into the history of Gambit and Rogue’s relationship to see how it’s developed over time.
Why Gambit’s Powers Make Him More Than A Card Shark
The X-Men offer some of the most diverse characters in comics, with Gambit being a key member of the group. Many comic fans know him best as the guy who throws cards that explode on contact. Yet Gambit’s powers go much deeper than charging up a pack of playing cards. He has the potential to be one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, and here I explore the Ragin Cajun’s abilities to find out what makes him so explosive.

The Pop Culture Playlist: Rogue
It’s time for another edition of The Pop Culture Playlist, where I create a list of ten tracks and match them with a superhero or villain. Today, the featured character is everyone’s favourite southern belle, Rogue. With her ability to absorb the powers and memories of those she touches, Rogue is one of the most recognised X-Men. Her country charm matched with her vulnerability makes her a great character to come up with music for. Continue reading “The Pop Culture Playlist: Rogue”
The Pop Culture Playlist: Gambit
I’m back with a new addition of The Pop Culture Playlist, and on suggestion from Alex over at alexraphael I’m going to be featuring Gambit. The Ragin’ Cajun is one of my favourite characters, having played the role of thief and hero with the X-Men. I’ve come up with a playlist to represent a man with a devil-may-care attitude and who is also a hustler with a heart of gold.
