The Comic Vault has reached another milestone of 600 followers and I wanted to thank new followers and old by giving them the opportunity to write guest posts for the website. In my experience, guest posts are a great way to build up your writing reputation, make new connections and step outside your comfort zone. Read on to find out what kind of opportunities are available.
Cosplaying is a wonderful form of expression, and The Comic Vault specialises in conducting interviews with cosplayers from around the world. The latest interview involves model and cosplayer Cynthia Chovska, who goes by Robin in the cosplay world. I caught up with her on her current cosplay plans and enjoyed talking to her about how she feels costumes benefits mental health.
Cosplaying is an amazing way to bring together people who appreciate pop culture. It allows you to become one of your favourite characters and step out of your comfort zone. The Comic Vault is pleased to present an interview with Soylent Cosplay, AKA Jennifer Pryer, who’s making a name for herself in the cosplay world. Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in my first professional cosplay photoshoot. Something I love about blogging is that it gives you so a chance to collaborate with so many different people. Through it, I was able to find a local photographer called Priya, who was happy to to be involved. Here’s what happened when the Red Hood went out into Manchester.
I’ve been on a mission to hear from other cosplayers and help them gain some recognition for their awesome designs. My first cosplayer interview is with the talented Kseniya, also known as Kamiko Zero. Kseniya was kind enough to shed some light on the kind of cosplaying she does and offers helpful advice on anyone who’s thinking about getting into cosplay.
One of the biggest issues in the world today is mental health. Many people are still afraid to discuss their battles with depression, anxiety and other disorders. Among men in particular, there’s a stigma attached to it, as we don’t want to be perceived as being ‘weak.’ As someone who’s suffered from depression and anxiety, I can admit I used to find it very difficult to talk about what I’ve experienced. But that’s changed.
An outlet that’s helped me is comics and cosplay. Dressing up has allowed me to be part of a supportive community who are up for a laugh and it’s made me think of the positive mental health benefits of cosplaying. Continue reading “The Positive Effects Cosplay Has On Mental Health”
Pop culture fans were out in force for this year’s Manchester Comic Con, with plenty of fun moments. This was the first comic con I cosplayed in front of a large crowd and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. From joining on a Red Hood hunt, to going to a cosplay afterparty, here were some of the highlights from Manchester Comic Con. Summer is here and that means it’s time to go out and enjoy the comic cons that are happening around the world. From San Diego Comic Con, to a smaller venue with a few stalls, there’s plenty to check out. As someone who attended his first comic con in Manchester last year, I thought it would be a good idea to come up with a few tips for people who’re attending a convention for the first time. I’ve yet to go to any of the large American venues, so this will be a guide on how to enjoy a smaller comic con in your local area.
This week I hit 200 followers and I wanted to thank everyone for their continued support. Blogging has become a helpful creative outlet, and all of your comments and likes have encouraged me to continue. I wanted to do something special for this milestone by giving you all a sneak peak at the cosplay outfit I’m going to be wearing at conventions later in the year.
