Fantasy Author Sebastien De Castell Reveals New Details About The Greatcoats

I think books are one of the most precious resources on the planet. As soon as you open a novel, you’re transported to a brand new world. A good author makes their characters stand out. A great author makes their stories resonate for years to come. That is how I feel about The Greatcoats quartet, a collection that has turned into my favourite book series of all time. So, what could be better than reading them, you ask? Getting to talk to the guy that created the books!

Sebastien De Castell was awesome enough to take time out of his busy schedule to talk to me about The Greatcoats and his writing process. In the interview, Sebastien reveals how he created the characters of Falcio, Kest and Brasti and who he’d pick for Falcio to duel in another fantasy novel. Why The Greatcoats Quartet Is My Favourite Book Series

We all have stories that are personal to us, whether it’s because we connect with a certain character, or because we relate to their journey. I’ve lost count of the amount of novels I’ve read over the years and I can’t remember a series that has stood out to me more than The Greatcoats quartet. Written by Sebastien De Castell, the series follows the adventures of three travelling magistrates who are determined to fulfil the final wishes of their dead king. It’s been nearly a year since the last book, Tyrant’s Throne, was released and I’ve decided to examine the themes of the series to demonstrate why The Greatcoats are so memorable.

Looking Beneath The Arrogance Of Brasti Goodbow

With Sebastien De Castell’s Tyrant’s Throne coming out on the 20th April, I’m doing character spotlights on the three Greatcoats. Today, I’m focusing on Brasti, the most irreverent of the trio. Brasti is my second favourite character in the series and his quips make up some of the funniest moments in the books. But underneath his sarcasm and arrogance, there’s more to him than meets the eye.
