5 Self-Made Comic Entrepreneurs Who Will Inspire You To Achieve Your Business Goals

Becoming a success in the business world can be tricky, especially when everyone is fighting to establish themselves in a similar market. The world of comics has its fair share of savvy business owners, such as Bruce Wayne and Warren Worthington. Yet they were born into their fortunes and had money to fall back on. Being a self-made entrepreneur takes determination, bravery, intelligence and a limitless sense of self-belief. But it is possible and here are five comic characters who earned their fortunes through hard work and never settling for anything less than what they’re worth.

peter

Spider-Man

Peter Parker came from humble beginnings as a photographer for the Daily Bugle, but his natural intelligence helped him create devices that helped him in his superhero career as Spider-Man. When Doctor Octopus took over Peter’s body, he started Parker Industries, which Peter took control of when he got his body back.

The technology company allowed Spider-Man to expand his operation while also earn money for himself and use his inventions to help the public. Peter was forced to have his staff destroyed Parker Industries to stop it from falling into the clutches of Hydra.

This is an example of a business being successful and then having to shut down. What can be learned from this? Don’t be afraid to fail. Many entrepreneurs fail in their first, second and third attempts. Failing gives you the opportunity to learn from your mistakes and find out what works better next time. Spider-Man didn’t let it stop him and you shouldn’t be put off either.

kyle

Kyle Rayner

Before he became a Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner was a struggling freelance graphic designer trying to gain recognition for his art. He had all the talent in the world, but it became a case of not having the opportunity to show his work to the right people. After receiving his ring, Kyle channelled his artistic talent into his constructs, making him one of the most creative Green Lanterns in the universe.

As someone who started off freelancing and trying to break into the copywriting industry, I take inspiration from Kyle’s journey. It’s tough to find people who want to invest in you and gain a permanent position. But Kyle never gave up and that ties into the the entrepreneurial spirit of staying focused.

The lesson to be learned is that we all have to start somewhere and there’s no shame in freelancing. You’re able to build up a portfolio, gain experience and open doors for yourself.

Mister Terrific

If you have the intelligence to create an innovative product, then you should go for it like Mister Terrific did. Michael Holt is considered one of the smartest men in the DC Universe, having developed various kinds of technology. His natural intelligence allowed him to become a self-made millionaire and he started his own tech company called Cyberwear.

Holt’s most well-known technology is his T-Spheres, which perform different functions, such as enabling him to fly and being used as offensive weapons. After the death of his wife and child. Mister Terrific needed to pick himself up from nothing, which every entrepreneur has been faced with at some point in their lives. Never stop striving to be better on your way to achieving your business goals.

green arrow

Green Arrow

Although Oliver Queen inherited his family fortune and became the head of Queen Industries, he gave away his money in order to help the disenfranchised. There was a point where he lost everything and needed to remake himself and what he stood for. Green Arrow went on to become Mayor of Star City and channelled his liberal political views into helping the little guy.

Green Arrow is an example of a self-made entrepreneur who didn’t define himself by the money he earned. He had it all, yet learned the true value of what money stands for. Oliver gave back to the community and built relationships with the people around him in order to regain his fortune.

Being an entrepreneur is about learning when to stay humble and cultivate the right relationships with people who can help you get to the next level.

fanta

Mister Fantastic

Making the most of your natural gifts is important, and that’s exactly what Reed Richards did. Mister Fantastic applied himself to a number of disciplines, like physics and engineering. Eventually, his hard work paid off and he got enough funding for his research. This allowed him to get where he wanted to be.

Reed constantly pushes himself to learn more and expand his knowledge. A successful entrepreneur is always interested in getting better, so the more you learn, the more prepared you’ll be.

Becoming a self-made entrepreneur isn’t easy, but nothing worth having ever is. Which comic character has inspired you to better yourself?
