One Lovely Blog Award!

All I can say is I’m blown away by the reaction I’ve got for this blog so far. The surprises keep on coming with being nominated for a One Lovely Blog Award by Michel over at Raistlin0903. Thanks for nominating me and I’ve really enjoyed reading your movie reviews. My favourites have been on Batman: The Killing Joke and Doctor Strange, so keep it up!

7 Things About Me

In truth, I don’t think I’m all that interesting but here are seven things that make me who I am.

  1. I’m an Englishman, born and living in Manchester. I also have the pleasure of having Italian and Polish heritage.
  2. My favourite comic character is Red Hood because of how human he is. I could go on and on about how much I love Jason Todd, but I’ll save that for future posts.
  3. I care a lot about animals. Wolves, red pandas, golden eagles, wolverines and honey badgers are some of my favourites. I also run another blog called wingsandwildhearts.wordpress.com to bring awareness about endangered species and promote animal charities.
  4. My favourite book genre is fantasy, to the point I’ve written and published a few fantasy short stories.
  5. I plan on owning a Husky or a Newfoundland one day.
  6. I’ve recently finished writing my first novel, The Things We Carry, a YA fantasy.
  7. My guilty pleasure for music is opera, specifically Italian opera. My nona used to play it when I was a child.

  4. Congratulations on the award and thank you for the nomination! Also, I love/am jealous of your love/knowledge of opera. Opera’s one of those artistic experiences I’ve always wanted to know more about but never really know how/where to start. Also, I adore Woody Allen’s films and he uses a lot of opera in the score and I’m certain there’s symbolic significance in the song choices that I’m missing!

    1. Cheers Mike and you’re welcome! Opera does have the power to make you feel a number of emotions. I grew up listening to singers like Andrea Bocelli. Any time opera music is featured in a film I tend to think about the significance of it.

  10. So I realize I’m very late commenting on this, but… if you ever have a chance to own a Newfoundland, they are absolutely wonderful dogs! I used to manage a pet store for several years and the owner had several Newfies that I always took care of! (She still has 2 and I go visit them often) They really are gentle giants! 🙂
